As anyone with oily skin would tell you, coming home and cleansing your face with a trusty cleanser is arguably one of the best feelings there is out there. Oily skin can be hard to deal with. While our skin needs its natural oils to maintain its moisture and elasticity, excessive production of oil can leave your face looking perpetually greasy. So when it comes to choosing the right facial cleanser for oily skin types, it’s all about finding a sophisticated balance between cleansing your skin and stripping all its natural oils.

In this month’s #ShebyDC, we sought the help of 3 girls with oily and combination skin types to review Caudalie’s latest Vinopure Purifying Gel Cleanser. It is an oil-free gel-to-foam cleanser that works to tighten pores while minimising excess sebum to tamp down that shine. Read on to find out what they think.

Cassandra, 23

“I’ve been using Caudalie’s Purifying Gel Cleanser for a full week now, and I must say this really took me by surprise! I didn’t have high expectations for this cleanser, as most cleansers don’t show any effects on my oily and congested skin.

After using it for the first time, my skin instantly felt smoother and softer, as if I just had a plumping mask on! I also realised that I had lesser blackheads and the existing ones were not as prominent. When I stopped using the cleanser for a day, I felt new bumps and my skin was congested again. This was when I realised this was a really good cleanser that really helped clean my skin!

The cleanser doesn’t feel like a gel at all, but a liquidy runny texture. It lathers moderately well, and does not leave my skin dry and stripped after cleansing. I would definitely recommend this cleanser for anyone who has similar skin! “

Grace, 27

Caudalie’s Purifying Gel Cleanser is a lightweight gel-textured cleanser. After cleansing my face with this product, I found that it didn’t strip my skin dry. It even helped to calm the redness on my cheeks. I use this cleanser twice a day, leaving me with refreshed skin from day to night. My skin feels rejuvenated after every wash and surprisingly less oily than before throughout the day.

After using it for about 3 days, I noticed my pores shrank and my skin was significantly more radiant. I am not sure if this is temporary but I will definitely continue to use this cleanser for a longer-term effect. I highly recommend this to anyone with sensitive skin and enlarged pores!”

Nanthinie, 33

“The cleanser has been a refreshing addition to my daily skincare. It thoroughly cleanses my skin without stripping away its moisture. The packaging is sleek and a small pea-sized amount is more than enough. This makes it very worthy of the price you pay — it’s gonna last you for so long.

The cleanser did break me out as it brought forth the under emerging pimples. That said, it amazed me that the pimples did heal as quickly as they popped out.”

Cleansing your skin with the right cleanser is so important because it lays the right foundation for the other skincare products that you’ll be layering over your skin. Caudalie’s Vinopure Purifying Gel Cleanser retails for S$33 at all Sephora stores — if you are looking for a cleanser to stop your oil in its tracks, this could be it!
