Finding the perfect skincare routine is no easy feat. And if you’re new to skincare like me, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the plethora of skincare tips out there or want to dive into a 10-steps skincare routine ASAP. But hear me out, skincare doesn’t have to be elaborate for it to work. With the right blend of ingredients, even a 4-step skincare routine can do wonders for your skin.

If you’re unsure where to look, don’t worry! We’ve got you.

Introducing: CELLOOM

Developed by an experienced dermatologist and a cosmetics enthusiast, CELLOOM takes on a down-to-earth approach towards skincare. Their products are vegan, EWG-certified and GMO-free as well, so you can indulge in it with a peace of mind.

Ingredients Your Skin Will Love You For

With an innovative blend of organic plant-based extracts and effective active ingredients, CELLOOM’s range is just the treat for your skin. Here are some of its notable ingredients that are our favourite:

  1. Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA): AHA helps tackle surface-level skin concerns, such as hyperpigmentation, improves the skin’s moisture content and sloughs off dull dead skin.
  2. Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA): A must-have for acne-prone skin, BHA clears up blackheads and whiteheads, and also consists of anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties which help prevent future breakouts.
  3. Hyaluronic Acid: The key ingredient for radiant looking skin, Hyaluronic Acid helps our skin retain moisture while keeping it hydrated and supple.
  4. Centella Asiatica (also known as Cica): A new favourite among those with sensitive skin, Centella Asiatica improves skin hydration, soothes inflammation and encourages collagen production.
  5. Kakadu Plum Extract: Dubbed by many as the superior cousin of vitamin C, Kakadu plums contain antiseptic and antioxidant properties that help fight against blemishes and shield our skin from harsh environmental aggressors.

Embracing Simplicity

Like many other 20-something-year-olds, my skin can be quite temperamental, so I try not to overwhelm my skin with too many products. With CELLOOM’s philosophy in mind, I embraced simplicity and transformed my skincare routine. It’s now back to the basics with CELLOOM: cleanse, tone, treat and moisturise.

My skin type: combination-oily, prone to breakouts
My skincare concerns: hydration, acne, fatigued skin

1. Cleanse

The first step in every skincare routine, cleansers play an essential role in ensuring that our skin is ready to absorb whatever products we wish to treat our skin to. Tip: look for cleansers that can cleanse and rejuvenate!

Back To Basics Cleanser, S$49

My thoughts: The cleanser is formulated with Centella Asiatica extract, Allantoin, Hyaluronic Acid, as well as AHA, all of which are quintessential when it comes to skincare. The cleanser lathers well and just a small dollop goes a long way, so you don’t have to worry about having to restock it prematurely. My skin feels refreshed and radiant after, and it has a hint of citrus scent which made the whole cleansing process feel like a mini trip to an oasis.

2. Tone

The first leave-on step that hydrates and treats, toners help to prep your skin for the absorption of subsequent skincare products. Most toners contain acids, glycerin, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatories so it is a must-have if you want smoother, more radiant skin!

Balance Well Toner, S$49

My thoughts: I loved that it contained exfoliating ingredients like AHA and LHA (a BHA derivative), which helps unclog pores and remove dead skin cells, and yet it’s also gentle on the skin and doesn’t leave my face feeling desiccated afterwards. What’s more exciting is that it’s formulated with 90% Kakadu plum extract (AKA Vitamin C’s superior cousin) and I’m excited to see its effects manifest over time!

3. Treat

After you’ve cleansed and toned, it’s time to nourish your skin with a serum! As serums are usually packed with an effective dose of active ingredients, they act as a quick booster for your skin and are a great tool for targeting any specific skin concerns that you may have.

Focus On The Essence Serum, S$59

My thoughts: Though the serum has a more viscous texture, it didn’t feel heavy on my skin. With its powerful blend of Centella Asiatica and Borage seed oil, it soothes your skin while strengthening your skin barrier to fight against daily aggressors. I’d recommend this for those who are looking to target troubled skin.

4. Moisturise

No matter what age or skin type you are, moisturising your skin is a must for healthy, glowing skin. The best kind of moisturisers also protect our skin from daily environmental aggressors and heal our natural skin barrier.

Build Your Own Cream, S$69

My thoughts: Thanks to its antioxidant-rich and nutrient-packed formula, my skin feels reinvigorated after, which I appreciate! It definitely held up through the night and I was pleased to wake up to hydrated and supple skin.

The Takeaway

CELLOOM’s range of skincare products embodies its philosophy that skincare should be simple, effective and stress-free. Embarking on this made me have a newfound appreciation for skincare: my skin feels happier and so do I! With lesser steps in my skincare routine, I find myself excited to carry out (And enjoy!) my skincare routine, regardless of how hectic my day was.
