This is probably a story you’ve heard many times over: but like many 90s kids, I discovered makeup on YouTube. More specifically, my beauty journey (if you will *wink*) began with Michelle Phan’s makeup tutorials. (Anyone remember the Barbie tutorial she filmed without a mirror? Or the Mulan one, which I had a particular passion for!) I’m sure I didn’t just have Michelle Phan on my playlist — she was the playlist. And when Em Cosmetics launched… Well, it was about time. Em Cosmetics might have had a quiet refresh in 2017, but they’ve been on a high-speed roll since and my wish list can barely keep up! While I haven’t managed to get my paws on everything from Em Cosmetics *yet*, I’ve had the opportunity to dive deeper into more from their range here at The DC Edit.

Taking it all together, I hereby present you some of our absolute must-haves from Em Cosmetics. So if you’ve been contemplating getting a share of the Em Cosmetics pie, we’ve got suggestions.

1. Em Cosmetics Infinite Lip Cloud, USD20 (SGD26.96~)

Infinite Lip Cloud in (from top to bottom) #Cashmere Creme, #Morning Mocha and #Radiant Dawn.

I personally think matte-but-not-flat lippies are quite timeless — they wear well on any occasion! Infinite Lip Cloud isn’t bluffing with its name. The air-whipped texture glides on like frosting (it smells delectable too) and wears like a dream. Formulated with lip-cocooning and line-filling properties, expect a soft velvety finish that won’t leave your pout looking cracked or flat. One of the best things about Infinite Lip Cloud is how saturated it applies and how fuss-free it fades off into a pretty stain. Think a blush on your lips, without all that separation and peeling that usually comes with hard mattes. If you don’t fancy a full lip, Infinite Lip Cloud is also seamless to layer and builds beautifully. We love a fluffy lippie!

Our shade picks: #Radiant Dawn is a bright rose that’s a great in-between bright and deep. This enlivening raspberry-rose hue is quite universally flattering! If you love a wearable nude, we like #Cashmere Creme with its hints of mauve and pink for a pared-back blush.

(Infinite Lip Cloud is vegan, gluten-free and cruelty-free.)

 2. Em Cosmetics True Gloss, USD20 (SGD26.96~)

True Gloss in #Tender Rose (top) and #Faded Clementine (bottom).

A high-performing voluminising gloss, True Gloss is gel-based for a lasting cover-ready shine, save any sticky mess. The lip-plumping peptide complex enhances your pout, while powerhouse emollients like Vitamin C and Vitamin E work to condition and soften. Nourishing properties aside, True Gloss is pigment-rich and offers smooth high-impact colour with lacquer-like brilliance. Probably everything you could want in a trusty lip gloss — no compromises!

Our shade picks: #Faded Clementine is a unique one. This creamy, soft tangerine shade has warm undertones of orange and burnt pumpkin that will wear wonderfully atop Holiday and Chinese New Year hues!

(True Gloss is cruelty-free.)

3. Em Cosmetics Lip Cushion Tinted Luminizer, USD22 (SGD29.66~)

Lip Cushion Tinted Luminizer in #Angele (left) and #Mystic (right).

One of the newest drops from Em Cosmetics, the Lip Cushion Tinted Luminizer is a game changing lip-balm-tint hybrid. Infused with Hyaluronic Acid for extra hydration and Vitamin E, this hardworking lippie moisturises and protects while drenching your lips in a subtle glowy tint. Very neat! If tinted lip balm tops your list of beauty staples, this will probably be a hit. And if you haven’t been introduced to the wonderful world of tinted lip balms yet, this plush lippie might convert you…

Our shade picks: #Mystic is a vivid berry that’s deep enough for a bolder lip, but can also be worn more sheer for a just bitten look.

(Lip Cushion Tinted Luminizer is cruetly-free and gluten-free.)

4. Em Cosmetics Fine Liner Brow Pencil, USD18 (SGD24.27~)

Em 1

Fine Liner Brow Pencil (in the foreground).

I’m not picky when it comes to eyebrow pencils, the only criteria is that they must have a micro pencil tip. Like most die-hard brow junkies I go through brow pencils (and as a result, jump from pencil to pencil) at an unprecedented rate. And I must say, Fine Liner is one serious micro eyebrow pencil. The super-fine oval shaped pencil offers terrific precision, exceptional pigment and is neither too soft nor hard. Perfect for those who love filling in their brows with natural, fluttery strokes; although if you like fuller brows, this also builds effortlessly without looking waxy or chalky.

(Fine Liner Brow Pencil is cruelty-free.)

Micro-Fluff Sculpting Brow Cream

Psst! For extra insurance, try setting your brows with Em Cosmetics’ Micro-Fluff Sculpting Brow Cream. Somewhat of a mascara for your brows, the tinted brow cream shapes, sculpts and enhances…like a brow blowout.

5. Em Cosmetics Illustrative Eyeliner (Brush Tip), USD21 (SGD28.31~)

Illustrative Eyeliner in #Brown (top) and #Black (bottom) brush tip.

Potentially a contender for your next HG eyeliner! The Illustrative Eyeliner’s ultra-fine and flexible brush tip allows for careful, laser-sharp application. Its specs are impressive, to say the least. Waterproof, smudge-resistant, long-wearing, fast-drying and with faultless pigment (no diluted lines) — the formula is also cruelty-free, gluten-free and vegan. Em Cosmetics only makes this in a black and brown brush tip, but that’s all the essentials you really need. If you have great eyeliner expectations and nothing quite cuts it, you’ll want to try this!

(Illustrative Eyeliner is vegan, gluten-free and cruelty-free.)

6. Em Cosmetics Color Drops Serum Blush, USD25 (SGD33.70~)

Colour Drops Serum Blush in #Rose Milk.

I’ll be a little biased here — but if you could only cart-out one thing from Em Cosmetics, I’d recommend the Color Drops Serum Blush anytime. Evidently, I’m smitten with this dinky bauble! Aesthetics aside, this innovative serum-blush synthesises skincare and makeup into a delightfully sheer, highly buildable tint. Color Drops’ fluid, essence-like formula is supercharged with Sacha Inchi Oil (rich in Omega 3 Fatty Acids), Squalene (balancing), Vitamin E (antioxidant) and Hyaluronic Acid. The nourishing serum-blush sinks into the skin, while delivering a youthful flush and healthy luminance (without greasiness). The brilliant formula is also easy to work with. It layers without patchiness, doesn’t cling to dry patches and seems impossible to overdo. I can’t recommend this enough if you’re a fan of sheer liquid blushes and dewier cheeks.

Our shade picks: For a delicate flush, #Rose Milk sheers out into a radiant lemonade pink.

(Color Drops Serum Blush is vegan, gluten-free and cruelty-free.)

While Em Cosmetics may not be available in Singapore yet (although we think it’s only a matter of time), the brand ships internationally from its US site. Shipping could be a pinch for now, but if you’re looking to indulge in their range we hope this gives you good places to start. In the meantime, you bet we’ll be keeping Em on our radar, diligently growing our wish lists and counting down the days till they launch here!

Take care,
