Onitsuka Tiger has partnered with Shu Uemura to launch a collaboration we never knew we needed, but now cannot imagine the world without. The combination of the two forces resulted in a capsule collection complete with eleven dynamic Shu Uemura makeup products and a cosmetics-inspired design to Onitsuka Tiger’s iconic sneakers.

These two brands have a shared grounding in Japanese heritage and embody a similar pioneering spirit that bolstered their brand to global success. The contemporary nature of both brands culminates in this collection: refined design meets a palette of bold reds, energetic oranges and cool blues, illuminating Shu Uemura’s individualism and Onitsuka Tiger’s innovation.
Kicking off with Fiery Onitsuka Tiger Delegation EX Sneakers
Sneakerheads would be familiar with the DELEGATION EX™ — the urban incarnation of Onitsuka Tiger’s design worn by the Japanese team in 1964. But the vivid red (aptly labelled as Tokyo Red) is a fresh take on this design. Its uniqueness is elevated by the texture that structures the shoe. The glossy enamel along the body is reminiscent of cosmetics’ packaging and seamlessly juxtaposed by smooth cow leather. Gracing the sides are Onitsuka Tiger’s staple stripes in black and orange for sleek contrast.
The voluminous midsole is made of FLYTEFOAM™ Propel, a responsive sponge material suitable for both the athleisure enthusiast and the urban athlete. Stamped on the insole are Onitsuka Tiger and Shu Uemura’s identifiable logos, which are also sported on the spare shoelaces.

As with the sneakers, the cosmetics collection by Shu Uemura exudes vibrance through bold colours and spunky design. The range comprises eyeshadow palettes, lippies, eyebrow pencil, eyelash curler, foundation brush and a cleansing oil — an almost full-face look in one capsule.

The eyeshadow palettes come in a zip-up outer case that brazenly showcases Onitsuka Tiger’s signature stripes. There are two variants: Set the Motion and Beyond the Limit. Warm-tone lovers would gravitate to the orange, reds and browns in Set the Motion. Those looking to diversify their palette collection can look towards Beyond the Limit, which includes an electric blue.
The eyebrow pencil’s hard formula and unique “naginata” samurai sword shape allow for drawing precise brow hairs. Instead of its usual brown, the painted body now boasts a vivacious yellow with Onitsuka Tiger’s stripes in black.

The lipsticks fall under Shu Uemura’s Rouge Unlimited range, with six shades available in lacquer shine and matte formula. Its usual cool black is exchanged for a fiery limited edition red complete with — you guessed it — Onitsuka Tiger’s signature stripes.
