It’s almost Earth Day 2021! We’ve delved quite a bit into sustainability here at The DC Edit, including spotlighting some kickass local sustainable fashion labels and their conscious commitments last year. Since being inducted into the world of (seriously) clean beauty during our Local Beauty Edit run myself, I’ve been quite sucked into the burgeoning market for no-nonsense and more mindful beauty. Which makes Sephora’s newly launched ‘Clean At Sephora’ wickedly exciting.

You have to hear about this if you haven’t: Sephora’s new Conscious Beauty department is dedicated exclusively to all its clean, natural and sustainable products. So you can finally find *all* of Sephora’s eco-friendly offerings in one place. Very neat. So ahead of Earth Day 2021, we put together some of the newest from clean beauty that have stealthily hit Sephora shelves… Because they deserve more noise!

Psst: See this list for all the ingredients Clean At Sephora products are formulated without.

1. Sephora Best Skin Ever Foundation + Concealer

The Clean Deal: 100% Vegan. Fragrance-free, Paraben-free, Sulphate-free. Formulated to Clean At Sephora ingredient standards.

PSA: Everything from the Sephora brand is now clean!

Best Skin Ever is Sephora’s  next-generation of game-changing complexion perfectors. The Best Skin Ever Perfect Natural Finish Longwear Foundation (S$29) is a skincare + foundation hybrid, for instantly flawless and natural coverage. Formulated with a special combination of happy-skin actives including anti-pollution Algae and naturally-derived Hyaluronic Acid, this second-skin-effect foundation enriches, smooths and conceals for exactly your best skin ever.

We can’t think of many beauty hybrids that beat out foundation/concealer + skincare combinations and the Best Skin Ever High Coverage Concealer (S$24) is a good example why. This lightweight yet full coverage liquid concealer ticks all the right boxes. It corrects dark circles, acne, blemishes and other imperfections without caking, bleeding, or settling into fine lines. The hydrating formula is easy to blend and features the same skincare properties as its foundation counterpart — we reckon a great pair for stressed skin!

2. Sephora Mini Pocket Eyeshadow Palette

The Clean Deal: More responsible packaging (mirror and magnet free). Cardboard from sustainably managed forests. Fragrance-free, Oil-free, Paraben-free, Sulphate-free. Formulated to Clean At Sephora ingredient standards.

Good things come in small packages too — specifically these petite six pan eyeshadow bars. The Mini Pocket Eyeshadow Palettes (S$22) each feature a specially curated range of complementary hues in every essential finish. From silky mattes to smoky metallics and vivid glitter! Great for mixing and matching, but with more than enough possibilities on their own. We can imagine these sleek palettes coming in very handy for transforming your eye looks on-the-go.

3. Virtue Alpha Keratin 60KU Exfoliating Scalp Treatment

The Clean Deal: 100% Vegan. Gluten-free, Paraben-free. Formulated to Clean At Sephora ingredient standards.

Virtue’s Alpha Keratin 60KU Exfoliating Treatment (S$68) sets itself apart with the use of its proprietary Alpha Keratin 60KU — which is whole, human keratin protein born from regenerative medicine. The first in haircare, Alpha Keratin 60KU enables intensive, unparalleled reparative properties for renewed hair with every wash. This deep conditioning treatment also delivers gentle physical and enzymatic scalp exfoliation to rebalance and purify the scalp. The cutting-edge formula uses naturally-derived fruit enzymes like Papain, Bromelain, as well as Rice Beads to slough away dead skin cells, unclog pores and boost hair follicles. While Kalahari Melon and Jojoba Oil help to rebalance the scalp’s moisture levels, without adding grease or residue. For endlessly silky and healthy hair!

4. Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair Super Moisture Conditioner

The Clean Deal: 100% Vegan & Cruelty-free. 95% naturally-derived. Gluten-free, Sulfate-free, Paraben-free, Silicone-free. Formulated to Clean At Sephora ingredient standards.

An ultra-hydrating, sulphate-free conditioner to rescue dry and brittle hair (including chemically-damaged), sans nasty ingredients. The Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair Super Moisture Shampoo (from S$55 for 473ml) nourishes and strengthens hair with vital nutrients including Algae Extract (minerals, amino acids, antioxidants), Panthenol (elasticity, moisture) and an Argan Oil Microencapsulation Technology. Briogeo’s proprietary NOVA Complex helps to fortify and protect, while also adding enviable shine! This reparative conditioner has been clinically proven to visibly reduce breakage after just two uses for healthy, beautiful hair in the long run. We love the commitment.

5. WISHFUL Thirst Trap Juice HA3 Peptide Serum

The Clean Deal: Cruelty-free. Non-comedogenic, non-acnegenic. Formulated to Clean At Sephora ingredient standards.

If you haven’t caught wind of WISHFUL yet: this exceedingly clean, straightforward skincare brand is the new skincare extension of Huda Beauty. WISHFUL’s Thirst Trap Juice HA3 Peptide Serum (S$79 for 30ml) is like… An essential serum with an elevated DNA. The potent cocktail features 3 types of Hyaluronic Acid (HA3), firming peptides, moisturising Hollyhock Rose and soothing Aloe Vera for the ultimate thirst quencher. Think glowy, plump and more resilient skin from deep within. Big brownie points because this uncomplicated serum is so easy to pop into your skincare routine!

 6. The Inkey List SPF 30 Daily Sunscreen

The Clean Deal: 100% Vegan. Cruelty-free. Reef-safe. Fragrance-Free. Oxybenzone-free. Formulated to Clean At Sephora ingredient standards.

Our passion for all things SPF may be old news, but the clean SPF hunt is a new one. For something we like to label as absolutely non-negotiable, SPF has (unfortunately) great potential to be very unclean.

Arguably one the OG creators of clean, transparent skincare, The Inkey List needs little introduction. And the SPF 30 Daily Sunscreen (S$27) is the brand’s take on everyday sunscreen with broad spectrum UV protection (UVA, UVB), that’s also clean to boot. The 100% mineral formula contains 22% non-nano Zinc Oxide, plus extra non-comedogenic and anti-irritation properties to serve breakout-prone and sensitive skin types. Zinc Oxide may be infamous for its naturally chalky cast, so The Inkey List’s Daily Sunscreen also features a low level non-cosmetic tint to enhance wearability and blendability. The weightless formula absorbs quickly, won’t cake and will wear seamlessly beneath makeup. Coupled with The Inkey List’s iconically accessible price points, this is an uncompromising powerhouse!

7. Nudeskin 3-Step Citrus Renew Skincare Set

IMG_2298

The Clean Deal: 100% Vegan. Cruelty-free. Gluten-free. Sulfate-free, Phthalate-free, Paraben-free, Synthetic Fragrance-free. Formulated to Clean At Sephora ingredient standards.

If you haven’t heard too: Nudestix recently dropped its own skincare line! Nudeskin is a vegan powered skincare range that’s all about multi-tasking, clean and simple essentials for ultimate nude-faced beauty. The Nudeskin 3-Step Citrus Renew Skincare Set (S$37) is a great introduction to the line, in a handy travel-size that also makes this trio perfect for taking around.

Get squeaky clean with the Citrus Clean Balm & Makeup Melt, a sparkling aromatherapy cleansing balm that takes off makeup, brightens and softens skin. The Lemon-Aid Detox & Glow Miro-Peel makes this set a little fancier than just basics. Use this clarifying enzyme-powered chemical peel to purify, smooth (with Apple and Pomegranate Extracts) and glow on the go (with Vitamin C, Lemon Peel Oil). Finally, Nudeskin’s Citrus-C Mask & Daily is a delightfully versatile moisturiser that can be used to hydrate and prime in the morning, as well as a softening sleeping mask at night. Besides, how charming is that colour theme? We want to take this everywhere!
