In this month’s #SheByDC feature, we invite 3 women from our community to try the CLARINS cleansing range!

We all know someone who says they do “nothing” for their skin but more often than not, also has excellent skin to boot. While I like to attribute this to unicorn skin genes (wished we had more of those), another important disclaimer is: even for the most non-existent of skincare routines, washing your face is a nearly unanimously agreed upon default. Cleansing is absolutely non-negotiable. I like to think of it as the step that begins all and ends all (quite literally)! So in this month’s #SheByDC, we took it back to basics and invited our community to review a line of conscious, plant-powered expert cleansers from CLARINS. For the full experience, we put together a double cleansing routine for 3 women from our community with different skin types and different cleansing rituals. How well did the CLARINS cleansing range fare? Our community takes it away!

Jacqueline, Normal-Combination Skin

The pair: CLARINS Cleanser Micellar Water + CLARINS Hydrating Gentle Foaming Cleanser

“I’m not a regular double cleanser, I usually just wash my face with any face wash I can find.”

“The CLARINS cleansers have a very pleasant scent. I like how smooth their textures are and how well they foam — but just enough, not too much! They feel great on my skin and leave my skin feeling both refreshed as well as very soft. The cleansers certainly help to get rid of dirt, while leaving your skin moist and glowy. All in, these are one of the best cleansers I’ve tried. No complaints!”

CLARINS CLEANSER MICELLAR WATER

S$49

Formulated with purifying Alpine Herbs and microscopic cleansing spheres, this refreshing micellar water removes light makeup, impurities and pollutants without stripping the skin. Powered by CLARINS’ unique Gentle Complex with Organic Golden Gentian and Lemon Balm, designed to soothe, rebalance and soften skin.

CLARINS GENTLE FOAMING HYDRATING CLEANSER

S$49

Gentle and softening, this nourishing cleanser is similarly enriched with CLARINS’ Gentle Complex and cleanses while helping to preserve the delicate balance of your skin’s microbiota.

Daffodil, Oily Skin

The pair: CLARINS Gentle Renewing Cleansing Mousse + CLARINS Purifying Gentle Foaming Cleanser

“My usual cleansing routine would be to use a cleanser and that’s it. I don’t double cleanse, because it saves time that way.”

“Both CLARINS cleansers apply smoothly on the skin and they smell amazing — like I’m in a spa! The Purifying Gentle Foaming Cleanser glides onto my skin and the foam is very gentle, it doesn’t tug or drag my skin. Post-cleansing (with both cleansers), my skin feels brighter and very smooth! I like that my skin doesn’t feel dry, but feels supple and bouncy. It also definitely feels like I’ve cleansed my face thoroughly.”

“To be honest, CLARINS is one of the more “premium” skincare brands I’ve used because on a daily basis, I’ll usually use drugstore cleansers/skincare. But after discovering Clarins, I’m convinced! (And would like to try using more of their skincare range!)”

CLARINS GENTLE RENEWING CLEANSING MOUSSE
S$54

This lightweight, soap-free cleansing mousse features a blend of purifying Alpine Herbs and naturally lathering Organic Saponaria. Also formulated with Tamarind Pulp extract, a plant-derived AHA, this high-performing mousse effectively removes impurities and pore-clogging dead cells. For clean, radiant and silky-smooth skin!

CLARINS PURIFYING GENTLE FOAMING CLEANSER
S$49

A perfect match for oily/combination skin types, the Purifying Gentle Foaming Cleanser features Organic Meadowsweet Extract, a plant-based salicylic acid derivative. Natural and gentle surfactants promise a comforting but thorough cleanse for deeply purified skin.

Insyirah, Dry Skin

The pair: CLARINS Velvet Cleansing Milk + CLARINS Soothing Gentle Foaming Cleanser

“For my usual cleansing routine, I’m actually a regular double cleanser!”

“The CLARINS cleansers smell really good! I noticed that the Velvet Cleansing Milk doesn’t foam much, but it feels really nice on the skin. After using both cleansers together, my skin feels fresh, smooth and quite supple. While I’m really loving the cleanser I’m using right now, I’m looking forward to using more of the CLARINS’ cleansing range when that runs out!”

CLARINS VELVET CLEANSING MILK
S$49

A creamy cleansing milk that leaves skin feeling enviably soft, hydrated and clean. The plant-infused formula is a comforting blend of organic plant extracts, CLARINS’ innovative Gentle Complex and natural humectants to detox, balance and nourish skin.

CLARINS SOOTHING GENTLE FOAMING CLEANSER
S$49

Made for dry and sensitive skin types, this soap-free (naturally foaming with Organic Saponaria) facial cleanser features Organic Chamomile and Shea Butter to leave skin incredibly plush, soft and smooth. Ultra velvety to touch, this rich facial wash promises a remarkably comfortable and luxurious cleanse.
